Three succumb, 277 test positive

Three more individuals succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic during the last years, pushing the death toll to 2057 even as 277 samples out of 2087 tested for the contagion were confirmed positive which puts the daily positivity rate at 13.3 per cent.
As per a report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the three victims hailed from Imphal West, Kakching and Noney.
All of them had co-morbidities, two had taken the second dose of Covid vaccine while the other one was not vaccinated.
Altogether 277 persons including five CAPF personnel were confirmed positive at RIMS (53), JNIMS (30) and other testing centres (194) .
The 272 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal East (76), Imphal West (109), Thoubal (16), Bishnupur (12), Kakching (13), Kangpokpi (5), Tamenglong (5), Jiribam (1), Ukhrul (5), Noney (2), Senapati (8), Chandel (12) and Churachandpur (9) .
Chandel district logged the highest daily positivity rate at 22.6 per cent followed by Imphal West 19.5 per cent, Kakching 19.1 per cent and Imphal East 18.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, 357 Covid-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (265), RIMS (2), JNIMS (23) and CCCs (67) .
The cumulative number of Covid-19 positive cases in the State has reached 1,34,444 (general population 1,29,472 and Central security personnel 4,972) .
This figure is inclusive of 3893 active cases (general population 3745 and Central security personnel 148) and 1,28,494 recovered cases (general population 1,23,677 and Central security personnel 4,817) .
The recovery rate stands at 95.57 per cent.
A total of 246 D-type oxygen cylinders and 96 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State yesterday.
Currently, 225 (out of 300) Covid beds are vacant at JNIMS and another 141 (out of 190) at RIMS.
Taking into account 12,402 doses jabbed yesterday, the cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 25,44,110 (first dose 14,45,016, second dose 10,62,951 and precautionary dose 36,143) .
Till February 3, 45.41 per cent of the State's total eligible population has received both the first and second dose of Covid vaccine while 59.07 per cent has been given the first dose.
