Five file nomination papers for Inner Manipur P/C

Five candidates including a woman have filed their nomination papers to the Returning Officer of Inner Manipur P/C today.
They are MDF's G Tonsana, Dr Th Meinya of INC, Dr RK Ranjan of BJP, Dr M Nara of LSA (CPI) and independent candidate Indira Oinam.
Jotin Oinam of Jai Mahabharat Party and M Manaobi of TMC too came to file their nomination papers but they turned back as their documents were not complete.
For the Inner Manipur P/C, March 26 is the last date for filing nomination papers and scrutiny would be done the next day.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is March 29 .
Speaking to media persons at Imphal West DC office complex, Chief Minister O Ibobi who came with Dr Meinya to file the latter's nomination paper said, "we assume our candidates would score thumping victories and we believe people would support Congress candidates" .

As for the major rivals, the matter may be discussed after the process of filing nomination papers is over, Ibobi stated.
Even though scrutiny for the Outer Manipur P/C was done today, Ibobi maintained he would like to comment on the same question only after the last date of withdrawal.
On being asked about Congress party's election agenda, Ibobi stated that he would inform the public after seeing AICC's election manifesto.
Dr Meinya claimed that he would be victorious this time too and no anti-incumbency factor would come into the picture.
Pledging that he would work to resolve key issues of Manipur, Dr Meinya said that his priority areas would be infrastructure development.
Indira Oinam said that her main rival would be the Congress candidate and the BJP candidate would find himself in fourth position.
No efforts would be spared to form a political platform for women, enable women participate in policy making process, repeal AFSPA and generate employment avenues by utilizing resources available in the State, Indira said about her priority areas in case she gets elected.
BJP's Dr RK Ranjan said that he would work for safeguarding Manipur's territorial integrity, recovering Manipur's lost territory along Moreh border, establishment of a sports university and ensuring jobs for unemployed if he emerges victorious.
He went on to assert that he would win the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat after defeating his closest rival whom he said would be the Congress candidate.
CPI's Dr M Nara said that his main agenda for the Lok Sabha election are repealing AFSPA, safeguarding Manipur's territorial integrity and deliver a corruption free, effective governance to people.
