Thirty bomb blasts since January this year alone

Imphal, March 24 2014:
There have been 30 cases of bomb blasts between January and March 23 this year apart from 27 cases of planting bombs.
According to reports published in Imphal based daily newspapers, out of the total 57 cases of bomb blasts/plantation, 50 cases were never claimed by any group or individual.
It is these unclaimed bomb attacks which have put the law and order in total disarray thereby putting large sections of the society under perpetual threat and insecurity.
On the other hand, Manipur has around 30,000 police personnel in addition to many battalions of army and paramilitary forces.
Given this highly militarized state, one is baffled on thinking who and how these explosives are transported.

Talking with The Sangai Express about the frequent incidents of bomb blasts and bomb plantation in different parts of the State, Home Minister Gaikhangam conceded that the incidents of bomb blasts have become a serious issue.
Even though most of the bomb attacks were carried out by UG groups, they did not own it for fear of public wrath.
They used young people given to drugs for transportation of explosives.
When police pulled up the suspects, they brought students identity cards.
As the suspects could not be apprehendeb together with explosives, Court let them off in the absence of evidence, Gaikhangam stated.
On being argued how one could say most of the bomb attacks were carried out by UG groups where there were very cases of police apprehending UG cadres together with explosives, the Home Minister gave no answer.
Out of the 30 cases of bomb blasts, CorCom claimed responsibility in four cases and RPF in another three cases.
In all these 30 cases of bomb blasts, three AR personnel were killed while eight others sustained injuries.
One civilian was also hurt apart from damaging a number of vehicles and dwelling houses.
Of the 57 cases of bomb blasts and plantation, 33 were hand grenades, 22 IEDs and two lathode shells.
15 cases of bomb blasts took place in civilian areas thereby causing fear and trauma to young and old alike.
Every bomb attack in civilian areas is protested unfailingly but such protest has so far yielded no result.
