Imphal, March 24 2014:
It was FC Khanglai all the way against YDO Konjenglamdong as they pumped in 6 goals with the rival unable to come anywhere sniffing at the goal let along score at the 1st Dr L Bhagyachandr a Memorial Football Tournament being staged at THAU ground today.
Riding on a brilliant four goal blitzkrieg from Helun, FC Khanglai had little problem in steamrolling past YDO with the first goal coming as early as the 4th minute.
Completely dominating the match from the first whistle, the free and flowing style of FC Khalai bore dividends as early as the 4th minute, when Helun received a defence splitting pass near the top of the penalty box.
Demonstrating great skills, Helun neatly trapped the ball, and after catching a couple of defenders on the wrong foot let go a well directed shot that beat the custodian of YDO hands down to help his team take a one goal lead.
The second goal for Khanglai came 20 minutes later, when Hangminlen launched a solo effort and took the ball inside the penalty box of the rival team only to be fouled by O Roshan.
The referee did not hesitate in pointing to the dreaded spot.
Hemin who took the penalty kick kept his composure and did well to send the custodian of YDO the wrong way to take a lead of 2 goals to nil by the 24th minute of the match.
Demoralised by the two goals early on in the match, the YDO players went into a shell and adopted an ultra defensive position giving ample space to the Khanglai players to dominate the midfield and make incisive attacks from either side of the flanks.
Helun was at it again when he latched onto the ball from a well measured pass and went off on a solo run, outpacing a couple of defenders.
With no one to beat, Helun did not face much resistance in disturbing the net in the 26th minute and help his team take an impressive 3 goals to nil.
The domination of Khanglai continued as they toyed around with the players from YDO, and the fourth goal came from a superb one to one between Hangminlien and Heikai.
Finding gaps in the defence line of YDO, the two in tandem with each other took the ball deep into the territory of YDO and Hangminlien let go a defence splitting pass to Heikai, who made no mistake in slotting the ball home in the 30th minute.
With the players of YDO boxed in into their half, Khanglai made repeated inroads and Helun was at it again when after a superb solo run from the midfield unleashed a power packed volley that disturbed the net in the 46th minute.
Helun again scored in the 54th minute to complete the rout.
