AIM, YPHU, KLASA script victories in Manipur State League

Imphal, January 14 2022: AIM (Khabam), YPHU (Lalambung Makhong) and KLASA (Keinou) notched up wins in contrasting styles in Friday's action of the 14th Manipur State League.

AIM started the day with a 4-2 victory over AFC (Thoubal Athokpam) in a Group B encounter.

The Khabam side started strongly and dominated the first period with three of their goals coming before the break.

Ch Akash opened the scoring after 13 minutes and then N James put AIM 2-0 up in a two-minute span before E Joykishan tripled the lead in the 26th minute as Loyangbama pulled a goal back for AFC in the 32nd minute.

Ksh Milan completed AIM's collection after converting in the 82nd minute before Loyangamba scored his second goal in the 86th minute for AFC but it was too late for them to mount a comeback.

The second match saw YPHU romp to a 5-0 win over NSACO (Nambul) in other Group B contest.

Lunkhongam kick-started the rout with a 20th-minute opener as Renedy extended the lead in the 39th minute and Sadananda made it 3-0 in the 44th minute.

Renedy scored for the second time in the 58th minute and Th Jugesh rounded off the scoring in the 77th minute for the eventual 5-0 result.

In a Group A match, KLASA FC rode on L Nabachandra's double to beat KIYC (Kshetrigao) 2-1.Nabachandra found his opener I the 28th minute and he went on to score his second goal in the 51st minute before Ng Prem Singh reduced the deficit for KIYC in the 85th minute.
