Imphal, July 29 2021: A court yard play (Shumang Leela) based on the life and sporting journey of Tokyo Olympics-2020 silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu would be produced soon.

Mirabai made entire people of the country, Manipur state in particular, proud by winning a silver medal in the 49 kg category of women's weightlifting at the ongoing Olympic Games at Tokyo, Japan.

Noted Shumang Leela playwright Ranjit Ningthouja will write the script of the play based on Mirabai Chanu but it is yet to confirm which Shumang Leela group will perform it.

Elated upon hearing this, Mirabai said that she would take the opportunity to witness the play along with people of the state on the releasing day if it happens during her spare time.

Apart from thanking people for loving her, Mirabai also assured of not belying the trust and faith of the public repose on her in future.

A team of Home Films Manipur and Kangleipak World visited Mirabai's home at Nongpok Kakching and encouraged the Olympian by presenting her simple gifts.

During the simple event, script writer of the film banner Ranjit Ningthouja disclosed to Mirabai about writing a Shumang Leela script based on her life and sporting journey.
