Imphal, April 25: Host TRUGPU, Nambol outclassed YWC, Thambalkhong 3-1 to wrest the title of the 4th L Saratchandra Memorial Invitation Football at Kongkhampat ground, Nambol today.

Inspite of the dominating the match from the beginning, TRUGPU strikers failed to pierce the rival defence-line until the quarter of an hour mark when Kh Reegan fired in from a dead ball situation about 25 yards away.

While the scoreline remained the same when the half-time whistle was blown, a swift counter attack from their own half saw Th Samson release the ball quickly to an unmarked S Herojit whose stinging drive from the right top of the TRUGPU box restored parity for the Thambalkhong side in the 72nd minute.

However, YWC's moment of joy was short-lived as within two minutes Kh Naoton regained the hosts' lead before the same player notched in the matchwinner two minutes into injury time.

The champions received the top booty of Rs 40,000 and the runners-up Rs 25,000 as Th Shyamo was named the best scorer carrying an amount of Rs 1000 .

YWC was awarded the fair play trophy with the best player honour bagged by TRUGPU's Kh Naoton each prizes carrying Rs 1000 .
