Nishikant touches right chord with 'fight corruption' call

Imphal, September 23 2021: Owner of The Sangai Express Nishikant Singh Sapam has asserted that he is preparing to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections with a pledge to fight corruption and ensure good infrastructure in the State.

He made the statement during a function at Radha Damudar Mandap at Thouda Bhabok Leikai today.

Prior to the programme, Nishikant inaugurated an election office of Team Nishikant at Polling Stations 12/22 and 12/23 and took part in a brief road show.

Addressing the gathering at Radha Damudar Mandap, Nishikant continued that he entered electoral politics with a commitment to take Keishamthong and the State at large to greater heights as a son of the soil.

Claiming that the people of Manipur seem to be losing faith in politics as many of the politicians indulge in dirty politics, he reiterated that he will make sure every benefit of any schemes reach its target if elected.

"Many doubt my commitment and raise questions on my conviction, but this is what I genuinely feel.

Fight corruption and make sure every beneficiary is benefited by Government schemes," he added.

Reiterating that he entered electoral politics to script a new chapter in the history of Keishamthong and Manipur as a whole and not to earn money, Nishikant added that shaping a better Manipur is a duty of all Manipuris and not of outsiders.

Further stating that Manipur is not only blessed with a good climatic condition but also has potential for development, the intending candidate stated that Manipur has a great potential to earn substantial revenue through tourism.

He also stressed on the necessity to improve the infrastructure in Manipur to attract tourists.

"If I try to recover the money spent on election campaigns then it is natural that I become a corrupt individual," Nishikant said and assured that he considers the money spent on the campaign as a service to the public.

"Let the money I spend on the election recover through my business, though slowly," he added.

Nishikant also appealed to his team members to not focus only on winning the election but to be with him even after the election in shaping Manipur.

Renowned singer Hamom Naba also spoke at the event.

He said that Nishikant is not only a self employed individual but is giving a source of livelihood to about 400-500 people.
