Imphal, September 23 2021:
People Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar has categorically stated that holding an open debate on the controversial Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill 2021 between the hills and valley is crucial before taking any concrete decision.
Today, representatives of ACOAM Lup, CLK, IPAK, IPSA, KANGLAMEI, KIL, KSA and PANDM submitted a memorandum to Governor La Ganesan to thoroughly study the Bill and not to give assent to any Bills that may disrupt the State's integrity.
After submitting the memorandum, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar narrated that many CSOs based in hill districts are dissenting for not tabling the Bill recommended by the Hill Areas Committee in the 13th session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
However, discussing the contents of the Bill thoroughly among the people of Manipur is crucial so as to table the Bill that is acceptable to all, he added.
Saying that the integrity of Manipur is not compromisable under any circumstances, he added that the Governor has assured of reviewing the Bill.
Saying that the CSOs, though not against the ADC Bill 2021, will not accept any recommendation that may break the State, Dilipkumar appealed all to exercise utmost caution so as to not repeat the 2015 incident where 9 tribal people were killed by projecting The Protection of Manipur People Bill as an anti tribal Bill.
Meanwhile, PANDM condemned the brutal killing of Athuan Abonmai at Tamenglong yesterday.
