Senapati, September 23 2021:
Former ADC members of Senapati district have termed the delay in conduct of ADC polls in the hill districts of Manipur as totally a marginalization policy.
This was stated in a joint meeting of all the ex-ADC members of the district held at Mao-Poumai Catholic Women Hall, Senapati on September 21 .
The meeting was reportedly convened in order to show solidarity to All Hill Autonomous District Council Ex-ADC's Association and other Hill CSOs with regard to the demand for tabling and passing of the Manipur (Hill Areas) ADC Bill, 2021, recommended by Hill Areas Committee (HAC) in the state assembly so as to fight for the rights of the tribal people.
According to a press statement issued jointly by the ex-ADC members, the meeting felt the need to form a body called 'Ex-Members, ADC, Senapati district' to assert their rights and demand the government of Manipur of what they felt was fair.
The meeting nominated RK Kaba as convener, Thisho Kriina as co-convener and Ng Rang as member.
The house felt the present imbroglio of the government was due to failure of holding ADC elections in time and hence the ADC election has become a bone of contention between the government of Manipur and the stake holders and it will remain so until the ADC election is conducted.
The joint meeting resolved that deliberately delaying the conduct of ADC elections in the hill is totally a marginalised policy, inclusion order of 9 MLAs in the HAC as an interference, recruitment process for filling up of 125 vacant posts in the absence of elected ADC members as a voracious policy, and "Go to Hills 2.0" programme just a slogan without any action.
The Ex-Members, ADC, Senapati expected the Manipur Legislative Assembly to convene a special session at an earlier date and table the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021, recommended by HAC.
The Ex-Members then strongly condemned the 'dis-coordinated' move of the state government.
