Excursion tour for women affected by domestic violence

Imphal, July 15 2018:
In an attempt to provide healing touch to the lives of local women who are suffering on account of various social issues, HQ 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), in coordination with All Tribal Women Organisation (ATWO), organized an excursion tour for women who are affected by domestic violence.
The one day long excursion was flagged off by Brig A S Chauhan, Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles today.
As part of the trip, 48 ladies including children visited places of interest in Ukhrul district including Siroi Hills.
The excursion trip was aimed to break social and psychological barrier and act as an emotional therapy for the affected victims.
26 Sector of Assam Rifles has been providing help and support to women who have been victims of domestic violence and other social issues.
Interacting with the women and ATWO functionaries, Commander 26 Sector' Assam Rifles encouraged them to take up skill development initiatives for self-employment.
From March to June this year, Assam Rifles had conducted a three month long skill development training on tailoring for five such ladies at its Integrated Family Welfare Centre, under the aegis of USHA Sewing School.
On the occasion, certificates of qualification were also awarded to the attendees by chief guest of the gathering, Brig A S Chauhan.
