SSC, Sekta gets Akashvani Award, 2011 for choral singing

The second position of the Akashvani Annual Award, 2011 for the Children Choral Singing (Junior Category) conferred to the students of Social Sporting Club (SSC), Sekta and it office bearers by the All India Radio, Delhi earlier, was handed over to the recipients during an award distribution ceremony held at the office of All India Radio, Imphal here today.
The award distribution ceremony was attended by M Kanankumar, Head of Office, All India Radio, Imphal; Dr Aribam Ibomcha, News Editor of AIR Imphal and M Biramani, Programme Executive, AIR Imphal as presidium members.
Delivering the key note address, Bijaya Yumlembam, Producer of Children's Programme of AIR Imphal, stated that the Akashvani Annual Award is given to a variety of categories namely drama, radio documentary, special category for youth Programme, women based programme, innovative programme and children choral singing, etc.
The best ones are selected from all the different All India Radio stations across the country.

She further informed that for the Children Choral Singing category, a screening was conducted by the Children Programme section of AIR Imphal with the Principal and the Vice Principal of Government Music College as panel judges.
Among the various contestants, the song "Eyekna Epani, Erolna Emani" sung by children of Social Sporting Club (SSC), Sekta was selected for nomination.
The recording of the song was then sent to the All India Radio, Delhi for the final selection for the award in December, 2011 .
But it was only in later part of 2012, that All India Radio, Delhi informed that the song "Eyekna Epani, Erolna Emani" sung by the children of Social Sporting Club, Sekta has been awarded the second position of Akashvani Annual Award, 2011 in the Children Choral Singing (Junior Category) .
Speaking on the occasion, M Kanankumar stated that a Manipuri song to be selected for the second position of the prestigious Akashvani Annual Award, 2011 for the Children Choral Singing (Junior Category) from among many other regional songs nominated from across the country is indeed a blessing not only for All India Radio, Imphal, but also for the whole State.
This shows that the children of the State have talent and they are not inferior to children of other States.
The presidium members distributed certificates to the children who took part in recording of the song "Eyekna Epani, Erolna Emani" and handed over an amount of Rs 5000 in cheque to the office bearers of Social Sporting Union (SSC), Sekta.
