Elections reduced to festival of money, remarks All Manipur Nupi Marup

Imphal, October 29 2021: All Manipur Nupi Marup has lamented the incidents of pre-poll violence that have occurred in certain constituencies of the State and remarked that election, which is the festival of democracy is being reduced to a 'festival of money' by narrow minded self-serving political candidates.

In a press note released today, All Manipur Nupi Marup stated that employing money or muscle power as a means to amass supporters is going to lead to the downfall of democracy.

Adding that women ought to play a substantial role in ensuring elections are free and fair, the statement went on to say that a people's revolution against the current trend of corruption is the need of the hour.

All Manipur Nupi Marup further urged all intending candidates to ensure that their workers do not resort to violence and called upon concerned police stations to file criminal charges against any candidates who cause unwanted incidents.
