MoS Dr Bhagwat vows to support businessmen

Joblessness for nearly two years due to COVID-19 pandemic severely affected economy of Manipur but the Central government will help in providing financial support to people of the state, assured Union minister of state for finance Dr Bhagwat Krishnarao.
Dr Bhagwat gave this assurance while addressing the gathering at the credit outreach programme organised by State Bank of India, Imphal region as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration in connection with 75th year of India's independence at Wangoi bazar on Friday.
Apart from Dr Bhagwat, the programme was also attended by agriculture and tourism minister O Lukhoi, SBI NE circle general manager RS Ramesh, director (veterinary & animal husbandry) Ch Nandakishore and SBI officials.
During the programme, Dr Bhagwat and agriculture O Lukhoi distributed passbooks to those who have opened bank accounts under Sukan-ya Samriddi Yojana and loan to 117 applicants who applied for assistance in different trades.
The Union MoS said that several Union ministers have been visiting North East states including Manipur and assessing loopholes and development programmes as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's objective of developing the region.
COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected economy of the country and this has created problem to the state as well and hence special emphasis need to be given to business sector to improve economy, he said, adding that steps are being taken up to provide financial support to businessmen from small to big ones of the state through banks.
Manipur is above the national average in terms of ban repayment at 66 percent and this need to be improved and it is important to maintain good relation with banks to improve economy of the state, Dr Bhagwat added.
In his speech at the programme, 0 Lukhoi said that banks are opening doors widely to businessmen both big and small for providing loan and individuals could procure loan to enhance their business enterprises by establishing good relation with banks.
He also appealed to those who could not get loan from banks despite filing application to report to him.
