136 cases, 2 deaths reported in last 48 hours

Imphal, October 29 2021:
At least 136 new Covid cases and 2 deaths were reported in the last 48 hours from across the State, pushing the Covid caseload to 1,23,609 and the death toll to 1,919 .
The new Covid cases updated on Friday alone, however, were 83 (including 4 CAPF personnel) and they were confirmed at RIMS (9), JNIMS (8) and other testing centres (66).Among the districts, Imphal West reported the highest cases with 35 in the last 24 hours and it is followed by Imphal East (25), Ukhrul (6), Bishnupur (5), Thoubal (4), Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (2), Kakching (2), Senapati (1) and Tamenglong (1) in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate registered on Friday was 4 percent as 2,064 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and it is marginally higher than the 2.9 percent updated on Thursday.
Though the overall positivity rate in Manipur was below 5 percent, the same for Tengnoupal was disturbingly high at 33.3 percent as 2 of the 6 samples tested positive in the last 24 hours.
At least 1 Covid death each was also updated on Thursday and Friday from Chandel and Imphal East respectively, according to COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The person from Chandel who was incorporated in the update for the last 24 hours of State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee had taken the 1st dose of Covid vaccine while the other from Imphal East updated on Thursday was not vaccinated.
With this figure, the death toll has climbed to 1,919 with Imphal West on top of the chart with 639 deaths.
Pherzawl so far has no cases of Covid death, according to the Government bulletin.
Today, another 53 persons were discharged from Home Isolation (8), RIMS (5), JNIMS (3) and CCCs (37).As the number of persons who recuperated today were lesser than the fresh cases, both the active cases and recovery rate have increased slightly to 871 and 97.74 percent respectively as compared to 842 and 97.77 percent updated yesterday.
Yesterday, a total of 564 D-type and 127 B type oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health care facilities in Manipur and 10,719 Covid vaccine doses were administered.
So far, the State has administered 19,38,003 Covid vaccine doses to its adult population.
Till October 28, Jiribam topped the vaccination rate among the districts in Manipur as 59.86 percent of its adult population have been fully vaccinated and at the bottom is Senapati as it has fully vaccinated a meagre 11.26 percent of its eligible population.
Overall, the State has also fully vaccinated 35.69 percent of its adult population.
