NPF beefs up poll preparation

With the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election fast approaching, the central leaders and Ministers of Naga People's Front (NPF) have beefed up their electioneering exercise to strengthen its position in the upcoming election.
Expressing strong confidence that NPF will increase its present tally of MLAs in the upcoming election, the party leaders informed that hectic preparation for the election including political campaigns, party workers meeting and screening and refining for the best candidates to be field in the election are underway in the four districts, Senapati, Ukhrul, Chandel and Tamenglong since September.
Many intending candidates from different A/Cs of those Districts are reportedly seeking tickets mainly from major political parties like BJP, NPF and NPP who are coalition partners of the present coalition Government.
Among the Naga dominated areas of Manipur, Senapati district produced 1 NPF MLA from Mao A/C, Tamenglong 1 MLA from Tamei A/C while Ukhrul District produced 2 NPF MLAs.
With aspiring candidates increasing each year in all three Assembly constituencies of the 3 Districts, the 2022 election will witness strong contests as various candidates from diverse backgrounds have declared their candidatures.
One such intending MLA candidate from Senapati District 47-Karong A/C will be KH Siile Anthony, former Director, Human Resource Development & Employment, NEC (DoNER) and Joint Registrar at JNU who will face contention from incumbent two times Congress MLA and former Minister DD Thaisii.
Another high profile candidate to contest the upcoming election is the present Ukhrul ADC Chairman in-charge Dr Yarangso, an alumnus of JNU who has declared to contest from 45-Chingai A/C and seeking NPF ticket will join the arena against the incumbent NPF MLA Khasim Vashum.
Speaking exclusively to The Hills Hornbill Express, KH Siile Anthony, a native of Purul village comes from a struggling journey of childhood and hardship but defied all to taste the life of a social activist, philanthropist, scholar, Government officer and now in political field.
A new entrant in MLA elections, Siile Anthony seeking NPF ticket is expected to put up a strong contention against 5 to 6 candidates who are now eyeing for tickets from NPF, BJP, Congress and NPP.
Dr Yarangso has decided to jump into the poll fray from 45-Chingai A/C in the 2022 poll.
The former social activist is outspoken on his NPF party and Indo-Naga peace process.
Taking his political journey into bigger & complex dimensions, Dr Yarangso stated that he wanted to contribute more through a larger platform like Manipur Assembly to voice certain matters like Tribal rights issue and Indo-Naga Peace process which he was already in the campus frontline since his JNU days as student activists.
Chingai MLA seat will be contested by many contestants including present MLA Khasim Vashum, former deputy speaker MK Preshow, former Bureaucrat Ningam Chimroy, former IAAS Sword Vashum and others in the list.
