JCILPS expels one

Imphal, July 24 2019: On the charge of not holding any valid identity proofs and making provocative remarks toward members of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) over the phone, one non Manipuri has been asked to leave the State by the committee.

The person identified as Sanjoy alias Bahadur (26), s/ o Bahadur Thakur of East Champaran, Bihar who stays at a rented house at Tera Sapam Leirak and operates a barber shop at Tera Lukram Leirak, was nabbed by members of JCILPS and handed over to police, yesterday.

After Sanjoy was released from the police station he was summoned to the office of JCILPS at Sega Road Konjeng Hazari Leikai and advised not to stay in Manipur any longer.

Speaking to media persons, convenor of JCILPS, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said that the audio recording of the provocative remarks made by the non-Manipuri towards its co-convenor Dollar Loitongbam has now been circulated on social media.

Stating that even stronger remarks were used by Sanjoy, who was drunk at that time, when the members rounded him up, Dilipkumar added that the miscreant doesn't possess any valid identity card and police verification report apart from not admitting to Manipur Barber Association.

The committee has restricted the miscreant from staying further and running his business until and unless he can provide necessary documents and due process to send him back to his home town is in process, the convenor added.

Lamenting that Sanjoy called the co-convenor of the committee and used derogatory words and even threatened him over the phone earlier, Dilipkumar conveyed that the mobile phone of that person will be handed over to police for investigation.

He also said that the committee doesn't completely ban entry of all non-Manipuris, however, they should posses proper documents and police verification report while entering and appealed all concerned to check for such documents and report before renting out a house or room.

JCILPS will continue to conduct drives in different places of the State to verify non-Manipuris, he added.
