17th Manipur State League : FC Lamjao ease 7-2 past NEROCA FC as UBFC end 4-game winless run

Imphal, March 22 2025: FC Lamjao overwhelm NEROCA FC, Sangakpham by 7-2 goals for the 5th win as United Brothers FC, Ukhrul (UBFC) edged 2-1 past SAI-RC, Takyel to end their 4-game winless run in today's Group B matches of the ongoing 17th Manipur State League.

In the first match of the day staged this afternoon at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, Elangbam Joykison scored four goals alone to set up the 7-2 victory for FC Lamjao against the reserve team of NEROCA FC .

FC Lamjao had a positive start and led the first half 2-0 thanks to goals from Md Samir (10') and E Joykison (41') before Joykison scored his second in the 53rd minute to make it 3-0 .

NEORCA FC pulled back a goal in the 54th minute through Ichulung but FC Lamjao retained their 3-goal advantage courtesy of Haobijam Tombi who subbed in for Md Samir in the 55th minute.

Joykison rose again to add two more goals back to back in the 64th and the 67th minute to make it 6-1 before Thokchom Yaiphaba netted the team's final goal after 74 minutes.

NEROCA FC toiled hard to reduce the deficit in the closing minutes and eventually found a goal in the form of an own goal by FC Lamjao defender Chongtham Rohit 3 minutes into the stoppage time.

With the win, FC Lamjao go second in the league table on 15 points behind SFC, Tera (16 points off 5 wins and 1 draw in 7 matches) .

Later in the day, Worchuipei Kashung (37') and Themchui RS (62') were on target to hand UBFC a 2-1 win over SAI-RC whose Kharibam Pravananda converted a penalty in the 78th minute.
