X-Polo Club, MPSC-B to face off in final of N Hazari State Polo

Imphal, March 23 2025: In a pair of exhilarating semifinal clashes, X-Polo Club (Wangkhei) and MP-SC-B emerged victorious, setting the stage for a highly anticipated final in the 37th N Hazari & Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament 2025.The first semifinal was a pulsating encounter, with X-Polo Club edging out Thangmeiband YPC in a nail-biting 13-12 victory, thanks to a stellar performance by L Atangba.

The match began with Thangmeiband YPC taking an early lead in the first chukker, as S Saolin netted twice to put his side 2-1 ahead, with Th Santosh scoring a solitary goal for X-Polo.

X-Polo, however, mounted a spirited comeback in the second chukker.

L Atangba was in scintillating form, firing in four goals to swing the momentum in his team's favour, giving X-Polo a 5-4 lead at the end of the chukker.

Saolin, however, kept Thangmeiband in contention with another double.

The third chukker saw the lead change hands once more, as Thangmeiband YPC fought back valiantly to take an 8-7 advantage.

Saolin (scoring his fifth goal of the match), M Chaoba, K Yaikhomba, and K Jogendra all got on the scoresheet, while Atangba continued his remarkable scoring spree with two more goals for X-Polo.

The final chukker was a spectacle of end-to-end action.

Atangba delivered yet another masterclass, hammering home four goals to complete an extraordinary 10-goal haul, while Santosh added two crucial strikes to seal a dramatic 13-12 win for X-Polo.

Despite valiant efforts from Saolin (two goals), Jogendra, and Chaoba, Thangmeiband YPC fell agonisingly short.

In the second semifinal, MPSC-B triumphed in another tightly contested match, defeating Black Watch PC 5-4.T Pradeep was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick, with S Bimol and S Abungcha adding one goal each.

For Black Watch, A Alex and Th Nongpoknganba scored two goals apiece, but their efforts were ultimately in vain.

The stage is now set for a thrilling final showdown between X-Polo Club and MPSC-B, which will take place on March 25, 2025 at 2 pm at Mapal Kangjeibung (Imphal Polo Ground) .
