Chess: Y Dhanbir leads with five points

Imphal, January 29 2024:
With five points in his kitty, Yambem Dhanabir Singh on Monday led the pack in the 1st Wahengbam Lalmani Singh Memorial State Level Open Chess Tournament 2024 .
In the fifth round of the tourney, Dhanabir beat Chitaranjan Taorem to collect five points and occupy the top spot in the points table.
On the other hand, Longjam Kenedy defeated Thongam Nabachandra to secure the second position with cumulative tally of 4.5 points.
The other winners in round 5 included Kh Shanjoy, Naorem Tokyo Singh, RK Bhogen Singh, Oinam Ningthem Singh, Konsam Jiban, Naoremcha Yoihenba, A Kishorchandra Singh, Elangbam Shashikanta, Khwairakpam Rocky Singh, RK Sudhirsana Singh, N Pari Meitei, Dayanand Thoudam, Lemba Sougaijam, Oinam Khelemba Singh, Waikhom Rajendra Singh, Chabungbam Shamu Singh, Huidrom Ranjan Meitei, Huirangbam Bidyashwor Singh, Leimapokpam Jetly Singh, Sanasam Frency Devi, Puyam Lanchenbi Chanu, Taibanganba Kangabam, Radhika Sharma, Sinthoiba Ningthemcha, Thokchom Tomba Singh and M Rana.
Ngairangbam Ratan Singh and S Sanjoy Meitei settled for a draw as Rishi Ayam received a bye.
