FCR, SU win as NISA, UDO draw in 2nd Premier League

Saturday's fixtures in the 2nd Premier League provided plenty of drama as FC Raengdai and Sangolbahd United (SU) claimed vital wins in contrasting fashion, while NISA and UDO were forced to settle for a share of the points in an evenly contested encounter.
FC Raengdai produced a masterclass in attacking football as they comfortably dispatched AMOFA 3-0 in their Group A clash.
The match was effectively controlled from the outset by Raengdai, who broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Bikram slotted home after a well-worked team move.
The second half saw further dominance, with Sagar doubling the lead in the 54th minute after capitalising on a defensive lapse.
Langanglung then put the result beyond doubt in the 73rd minute with a clinical finish, capping off a commanding performance as Raengdai collected full points with ease.
In stark contrast, Sangolband United (SU) were made to work tirelessly for their 1-0 victory over a stubborn AIM side in Group B .
The first half proved a cagey affair, with both sides cancelling each other out in midfield.
However, SU emerged with greater intent after the interval, and their persistence was rewarded in the 61st minute when Lenin Thongam fired home from close range after a defensive scramble.
AIM responded with sustained pressure in the closing stages, but SU's backline held firm under the onslaught, ensuring a hard-earned but crucial three points.
The day's other Group B fixture saw NISA and UDO play out an absorbing 1-1 draw.
NISA struck first in the 33rd minute wh en Yaruipam Awungshi finished a swift counterattack with a composed finish, giving his side a deserved lead at half-time.
However, UDO emerged with renewed vigour after the break, pressing aggressively and earning a penalty in the 68th minute after a handball decision.
Dhiren kept his nerve from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the scores.
Both sides pushed for a late winner, with chances at either end, but neither could find a decisive breakthrough, leaving the match finely balanced at full-time.
