Stage set for semi-finals of State Junior Handball Championships

Imphal, April 30 2024: The stage for the semi-finals of the 46th State Junior Boys and Girls handball championships are all set with the completion of the league stage.

YLK, Chingarel Tejpur; OYO, Kongpal; KVWA, Mayang Imphal and ESU, Wangkhei have qualified for the girls' semi-finals as YLK; NSU, Khuman; KVWA and BBA, Mayang Imphal confirmed their place in the boys' semi-finals.

Junior Boys : YLK completed their league (Group A) stage unbeaten as they overcame SSC, Khurai 15-7 for their fourth win before beating BBA 13-9 in their final league match.

Adison (5), Beckham (4), Krinibash (3) led the scoring in YLK's victory over SSC whose Kenedy topscored with 4 goals.

In the victory over BBA, L Hemba (4) and N Adison (3) gathered 7 goals as Beckham and Krinibash added two goals apiece.

For BBA, Anish (3) and Bronson (2) added multiple goals.

BBA however pulled off a 10-7 win over ESU later in the day courtesy of Imtiaz's five goals to finish Group A runners up with four wins in five matches.

In other dead rubber Group A matches, IMC, Thoubal defeated ESU 17-10 and SSC defeated MRC 9-6 .

Meanwhile in Group B matches staged today, NSU got the better of OYC, Thoubal by 11-4 goals courtesy of Galen (6 goals); CYDOL thumped OYO 10-7 thanks to goals L Rishikesh (5) and B Binladen (3); NSU held OYO to a 8-8 draw and KVWA demolish OYC 14-1 thanks to Yaikhomba (5) and Premson (4) .
