Imphal, March 19 2024:
IMKHUKAL-A (Heingang) romped past Nagamapal Polo Club (Nagamapal) into the semifinals of the 1st Athokpam Gandhar Memorial State Level Open Polo Tournament at Ibudhou Marjing Polo Complex, Heingang, on Tuesday.
Leisemba Takhellambam made the most of the rout, hammering five goals in their dominant quarterfinal triumph.
IMKHUKAL-A started off with a 2-1 lead in the opening period with the help of Leisemba's double, while Yaikhoma scored for Nagamapal PC.
In the next period, the Heingang riders extended their lead as Leisemba scored two more goals and teammate Thoudam Santosh got one.
IMKHUKAL-A then put the game out of reach for the opposition when Thoudam Kaoba struck in a double and Santosh collected his second goal, before Leisemba completed his five-goal haul.
Nagamapal PC scored their second goal in the fourth period through Bono, but that was as far as they could go as IMKHUKAL-A cruised to a 10-2 victory on their way to the semifinals.
