Farmers trained on livelihood enhancement

ICAR-KVK, Tamenglong organised a five-day training programme on 'Livelihood Enhancement for Poor and Marginal Farmers through Improved Horticultural Practices' from March 14 at Tupul and RNBA hall under the sponsorship of Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema, Nagaland.
Discussions during the training programme covered topics such as 'Production technology of Cole crops', 'Nursery management of vegetable crops', "Value addition of important horticultural crops', 'Recent advances in production technologies of fruit crops', and 'Recent advances in production and protection technologies in important spice crops of Manipur' .
All together 250 farmers from Noney and Tamenglong districts took part in the training programme wherein experts from ICAR-KVK Tamenglong, namely Dr H Lembisana Devi (senior scientist), Dr RK Roshan (SMS/horficulture), Dr Rabi Kolom (SMS/plant breeding), Gaipuichung Kamei (SMS/ agronomy), Ginbuanlung Gangmei, (farm manager), Lungkhong Riamei (programme assistant/agri extension), Dr Y Prabhabati Devi (SMS/home science) ICAR KVK Chandel, and L Basil (farm manager/ICAR KVK Churachandpur), delivered lectures on different aspects of the training programmes.
Method demonstration on 'Establishment of Vegetable Nursery', 'Single Bud Transplanting of Ginger and Turmeric', 'Preparation of Tamenglong Orange RTS', as well as critical input distribution were also held as part of the training programme.
