CRPF units celebrate, honour martyrs

The 86 battalion on Tuesday celebrated 'CRPF Day' at its Lamphelpat headquarters with CRPF Manipur & Nagaland Sector IGP Akhilesh Prasad Singh as chief guest at the event.
According to an 86 Bn CRPF statement, the occasion was made special with the presence of family members of the martyrs, who made supreme sacrifices for the nation in the line of duty in different parts of the country, from fighting militants in Kashmir to militants of Bodoland in Assam.
During his address, the CRPF IGP assured the martyrs' family members of all possible assistance.
On the initiative of commandant of 86 CRPF Bn Md Yusuf, barracks were dedicated in the name of martyrs and a garden developed and dedicated to them.
It was a highly emotional event and was a manifestation of the strong bonding among the cadres.
Many programmes have been finalised and will be conducted in the future for the welfare of family members of the martyrs, added the statement.
143 Bn also celebrated the 85th CRPF Day at its Lamphelpat campus on Tuesday during which IGP Manipur & Nagaland Sector Akhilesh Prasad Singh interacted with relatives of the martyred CRPF troopers and dedicated internal roads of the battalion to the martyrs.
The martyrs included CT/GD S Sanjit Singh of Sapam Mayai Leikai, Thoubal; CT/GD Md Latif of Lilong Sangomsang, Thoubal; and CT/GD H Punshi Singh of Khurkhul Mayai Leikai.
