Imphal, March 19 2024:
Health Services Director Dr O Sanahanbi has appealed people to apply for Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card and avail the host of benefits it provides.
The Director made the remark during the launching programme of audio video for creation of ABHA in local language (Meiteilon) at the conference hall of the Directorate of Health Services, Lamphelpat today.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr O Sanahanbi informed that the ABHA card initiative was launched in Manipur under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Manipur.
Highlighting the benefits of the ABHA card, she conveyed that instead of queueing up for long hours to get OPD tickets at Government hospitals, ABHA card holders can use their smartphones to get their OPD tokens after performing a few easy steps including scanning a QR code.
Stating that the benefits of ABHA card/number can be availed in all Government hospitals across the country, the Health Services Director added that patients can link their medical records with their ABHA card/number thus saving them from carrying their medical documents to every consultation.
An OTP (One Time Password) is necessary to gain access to the patient's medical records.
As a result, no one except the patient and the concerned doctor will be privy to the records unless the patient shares the OTP with someone else.
This ensures the medical history of the patient is kept confidential and secure, stated Dr O Sanahanbi.
Speaking as the president of the function, Dr Ningombam Somorjit.
State Mission Director, ABDM Manipur shared that till date ABHA cards/accounts have been generated for around 8 lakh individuals in the State.
Authorities have started providing benefits under ABHA at RIMS, JNIMS, Bishnupur District Hospital, Thoubal District Hospital and Kangpokpi Community Healthcare Centre.
In addition, he opined that ABHA cards will bring about a significant transformation in the landscape of healthcare in Manipur and India at large.
Dr Ningombam Homendro, Deputy Director (MC), Health Services also graced the event as the guest of honour.
