North East Games 2024: Manipur grab 9 medals in pencak silat

Imphal, March 19 2024:
Manipur won nine medals, including three gold, in the pencak silat competition on the second day of the 3rd North East Games 2024 in Nagaland.
The state team's stellar performance on Tuesday yielded three gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
Th Rita Chanu, A Rohit Meitei and the pair of S Jeevan and S Chingkhei were the top-finishers in their respective events.
Competing in the 45-50kg category, Rita Chanu cliched the gold medal in the women's landing event, while Rohit Meitei claimed the top-podium honour in the men's solo event.
On the other hand, the duo of Jeevan and Chingkhei won the men's ganda (doubles) event.
In the men's solo, S Jeevan bagged silver medal in addition to his gold in ganda (doubles).
Jeevan also got another silver medal in the men's regu (team event) .
He teamed up with Chingkei and Y Rohit to finish second in the three-player contest.
Manipur also added four bronze medals to their medal kitty courtesy of Th Dayalaksmi (45kg women's tanding & women's solo), N Lanchenbi (50-55kg women's tanding) and Ch Dolley (women's tunggal).
With the second day results, Manipur have now collected six gold, four silver and six bronze medals to occupy second place in the medal standings.
Hosts Nagaland lead the medal tally with eight gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
Assam are third with four gold, nine silver and five bronze, followed by Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram and Sikkim.
The state's wushu athletes, on the other hand, got off to flying starts as Ng Hrangkolou (52kg men's sanda), Th Malemnganba (65kg sanda), L Boyton Singh (70kg sanda), S Rohit (75kg sanda), K Ichal Devi (women's -45kg sanda), L Kalpana Chanu (-48kg sanda) and B Tamphasana Devi (-52kg sanda) all prevailed in their respective categories.
Result summary: Hrangkolou bt Lamphrang (Meghalaya), Malemnganba bt Aditiya (Sikkim), Boyton bt Nongkitboklang (Meghalaya), Rohit bt David (Mizoram), Ichal bt Upashna Rai (Sikkim), Kalpana bt Bashisha (Meghalaya) and Tamphasana bt Kivikalimach (Nagaland) .
