CEO chairs review meeting with DEOs, SPs

Imphal, March 19 2024:
Manipur Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Pradeep Kumar Jha chaired a meeting with all District Election Officers (DEOs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to review preparation for the ensuing elections to the 18th Lok Sabha-2024 at the conference hall of his office, here, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the CEO briefed the DEOs and SPs on matters including training for polling personnel, their dispersal, and security arrangement for smooth conduct of the election.
Matters like setting up of special polling stations for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and arrangement for their voting for the 18th Lok Sabha-2024 were also discussed.
The DEOs and SPs highlighted issues and requirements for smooth conduct of the election while sharing their views regarding preparedness for the ensuing election in their respective districts.
Additional CEO N Praveen, State Police Nodal Officer, Joint CEOs and other State Nodal Officers also attended the review meeting among others.
In another session, the CEO met with representatives of different national and state political parties.
PHERZAWL: In its continued efforts to review election preparedness for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, District Election Officer (DEO)/DC of Pherzawl district, Asish Das chaired a meeting of District Nodal Officers, here, on Tuesday.
The review meeting covered Model Code of Conduct, liquor drives, security arrangements including status of firearms deposited, materials and manpower management, randomisation of EVM and polling officials among others.
Nodal Officers later apprised the DEO on issues and challenges concerning their respective assigned responsibilities.
During the meeting, Asish Das emphasised the paramount importance of cooperation and collaboration over working in silos for smooth conduct of the ensuing elections.
Assuring all possible assistance, he instructed officials to execute their assigned responsibilities wjth utmost sincerity and dedication.
Stating that the upcoming election is Pherzawl's first in conducting elections as a distinct district, the DEO further instructed officials to ensure proper documentation as the records can become handy for subsequent legislative and parliamentary elections.
It may be mentioned here that Pherzawl district will go to polls during the second phase of voting on April 26 .
KANGPOKPI: In view of the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha 2024, a hands-on training for Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)/Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) for Sub-Divisional Officers/Assistant Commissioners and Sub-Deputy Collectors was held on Tuesday at the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Kangpokpi Headquarters.
The training was conducted under the supervision of the District Election Officer to make the polling officials and personnel awareness on functioning of EVMs/VVPATs and smooth conduct of the elections.
