State boxers assure India of five medals at Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing C'ships

Imphal, April 25 2025:
Young boxers from Manipur guaranteed India at least five medals after advancing to the semifinals on Friday at the Asian Under-15 and Under-17 Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan.
In the U-17 boys' event, Ambekar Lairenlakpam put on a masterclass in the 48kg category, overpowering Ukraine's Oleksiienko with a flawless 5-0 verdict to seal his semifinal berth.
Meanwhile, Nelson Khwairakpam, in the U-15 boys' group, left no doubt in his 55kg bout, outboxing Wang Sheng Yang of Taipei in another dominant 5-0 victory.

Khaidem Rudraksh Singh also progressed to the 46kg semifinals (U-15 boys) after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Kyrgyzstan's Aiban.
In the U-15 girls' competition, Milky Meinam shone brightly in the 43kg division.
She dismantled Kazakhstan's Yeidana with a resounding 5-0 win.
Meanwhile, S Linthoi Chanu had an easier route, receiving a walkover in the 49kg category to progress without stepping into the ring.
