YWC cruise to 2nd Hijam Mema Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament title

YWC, Langthabal claimed the title of the 2nd Khomdram Ongbi Hijam Mema Devi Memorial Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament beating REYS, Nagamapal by 5 wickets today at Langthabal Public Ground.
Asked to bat first, REYS posted a competitive total of 180 runs for 4 wickets but YWC eased to the winning total of 182 runs in 18 overs with 5 wickets left to spare courtesy of L Sasi's unbeaten 114 off 54 balls including 13 fours and 6 sixes.
S Jayanta provided REYS a steady start to the innings forging 23 runs for the first wicket partnership with Ng Kenny (5) and a remarkable 34-ball 52-run partnership with Dhaneshor (13) before he found an able partner in Boicha and added 98 runs off 54 runs.
Jayanta however holed out to G Gojendro Sharma for the third wicket on 84 in the 59th delivery off the bowling of Laishram Dinachandra.
His knock included 13 fours.
Boicha who completed his half century by hitting S Kumarjit for a four in the second delivery of 17th over also folded up at 68 off 32 balls for the fourth wicket to Abujam Ashakta before Rajesh 6 not out and Th Pyarlal 0 not out took the team to 180/4 in 20 overs.
Dinachandra (1/31), Samananda (1/42) and Rajeskumar (1/22) all picked a wicket apiece in this innings.
Chasing 181 for the victory, YWC-L suffered early setbacks losing S Kumarjit 10 and M Ashokumar 9 to Ng Kenny in the second and fourth delivery of the 4th over before L Sasi stitched 73-run partnership for the third wicket with L Manaobi to calm the pressure.
A Chingkheinganba of REYS succeeded in breaking the partnership by trapping L Manaobi lbw on 18 before removing incoming L Tejkumar on duck in the 2nd and 3rd delivery of the 12th over to make it 95/4 .
L Sasi held on to forge 46 runs for the fifth wicket with Samananda (8) before forging an unbeaten 41-run partnership with Laishram Dina 9 for the 6th wicket to seal the victory.
Kenny (2/55 in 4 overs) and Chingkheinganba (2/27 in 4 overs) returned with two wicket hauls as Jayanta finished with 1/37 in 4 overs.
YWC walked away Rs 20,000 richer and a trophy as REYS contented with Rs 15,000 cash reward.
Semi-finalists, NAPSA, Kha Imphal and KCC, Kongba were also feted with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 each as LCC, Lamshang earned the best discipline team award.
S Jayanta of REYS who amassed 402 runs and 11 wickets in as many as 7 innings was adjudged both the man of the series and champion batter trophies as L Everest of YCC, Wangkhei who picked 13 wickets in 5 innings was declared champion bowler and Th Tomba of KCC, who contributed in dismissing 10 batters in 5 matches, was named champion fielder.
L Sasi who emerged man of the match alongside all the individual prize winners were feted with cash prize of Rs 2,000 each.
