The North East Zone Inter State Badminton Championships 2015, organised by the Manipur Badminton Association (MBA) began today as Manipur, Assam Meghalaya and Mizoram advanced into the semi-finals at MBA Indoor Stadium, DM College Campus, Imphal.
The opening ceremony of the championships was graced by Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) LM Khaute (IPS), Zone II Inspector General of Police Lupheng Kailun (IPS) and Loktak Development Authority Project Director L Bhagaton Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In today's senior team event, Manipur claimed a 3-1 victory over Arunachal Pradesh.

In the men's single, L Unilkumar lost 1-2 (17-21, 16-21) to La Talar of Arunchal while N Anjita overcame Laa Yajum of Arunachal 3-1(20-22, 21-12, 22-20) in the women's singles event.
In the men's double's, W James and RK Cinir registered a easy straight set 2-0 (21-11, 21-17) win over Arunachal shuttlers Jokom Ribiya and Akshay Raito while in the women's doubles N Purnima and M Somibala defeated LAA Yajum and Pinky Karki of Arunachal 21-19, 18-21, 21-14 .
In other team events, Assam claimed a comfortable 3-0 win against Sikkim, Meghalaya edged out Tripura 3-2 and Mizoram trounced Nagaland 3-0 .
In the semi-finals tomorrow, Manipur will meet Mizoram while Assam will clash with Meghalaya.
In the team junior event, Manipur blanked Meghalaya 3-0, Assam defeated Nagaland 3-0 and Arunachal Pradesh downed Mizoram 3-0 while Sikkim were given a walkover after their opponent Tripura shuttlers did not turn up for the match.
For Manipur, Unilkumar Naorem thrashed Keifer Sullai of Meghalaya 2-0 (21-7, 21-15) in the boy's single group while Naorem Anjita defeated Shailja Chetri 2-0 (21-15, 21-11) and in the boys' double K Manjit and K Dingku defeated Shailja Keifer and Ritu Rai 2-0 (21-15, 21-11) .
Manipur will face Arunachal Pradesh while Sikkim will meet Assam in the semi-finals.
