Imphal, October 28 2015:
The 48-hour bandh called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the suspicious death of Sinam Tomboi continued on Wednesday.
JAC has also been decided to extend the bandh as there has been no response from the Government so far.
Police personnel on Wednesday fired tear gas shells to disperse protesters and bandh enforcers at Waithou in the morning.
In the afternoon, the police also dispersed a crowd at the Thoubal market which wore a deserted look.
Though the 48 hour bandh has ended there has been no response from the Government side and the JAC has decided to continue the bandh apart from demanding the institution of a judicial inquiry into the suspicious death of Sinam Tomboi.

It may be mentioned that Sinam Tomboi of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai died under "mysterious" circumstances on October 21 in a hospital.
It has been said that Tombo sustained serious injuries in a road mishap on October 18 .
However, the JAC has alleged that Tomboi's nine chest ribs were found broken and he bore physical injury marks on his body.
Local residences have blamed the Thoubal Police Commandos for his death.
