JAC Kadangband to impose 20-day economic blockade

Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of Khupneilal Neihsiel and Robert Hesei Kipgen will be imposing a 20-day economic blockade from midnight of November 3 .
JAC against the Kadangband killings had earlier imposed a 48-hour total bandh in all hill districts of the State from October 18 midnight to show its displeasure over the delay in tabling the magisterial probe report pertaining to the killings as assured by the Government within the stipulated three months.
JAC Convener Thangminlen Haokip said that the decision to impose 20-day economic blockade came after a joint meeting with various Kuki civil society organisations on Wednesday.
He said the tribe bodies were extremely disappointed with the silence of the State Government even after the 48-hour total bandh.
The 20-day economic blockade scheduled to begin from midnight of November 3 will be effective in all highways of the State.
Thangminlen Haokip said that the JAC will mobilize communities in all hill districts of the State to ensure that the enforcement of economic blockade triumph.
He further said that if the Government fails to respond within November 3, the JAC will no longer give any room for further delays even in the event of the state Government citing technical difficulties.
The JAC appealed all to understand the decision and lend support in its movement in view of the fact that the repeated human rights violation by Assam Rifles in the state irrespective of tribes and communities.
The JAC also appeals all State and inter-state transporters' associations to respect the bandh and abstain from any act of defiance.
The committee urged every civil society organisations particularly within the hill districts of Manipur to render support during the economic blockade.
