Imphal, April 28 2025: Wangjing FC United Junior team thrashed Kangleipak Pari by 3-0 goals to kick off their 3rd Maipakpi Memorial Trophy Group A campaign in style today at City Club ground, Heirok Litan Makhong.

The day also saw Yairipok FC and Sana FC playing out a goalless draw in the Group A opener before JFCC, Heirok were held to a 1-1 draw by Football Lovers Manipur in the Group B opening match.

After Yairipok FC and Sana FC shared a point apiece, Wangjing United FC Junior had a flourishing start and enjoyed a 1-0 first half lead thanks to Y Peter's clinical strike in the 16th minute.

Wangjing United FC Junior carried forward their momentum into the second half as well and raced to a 2-0 lead as Sanathoi found his opener after 27 minutes before completing his double four minutes later.

With Kangleipak Pari failing to convert their chances, Wangjing United FC Junior walked out 3-0 winners.

Later in the Group B opening match, JFCC enjoyed a slender 1-0 lead with Tezkumar's early 5th minute goal but Surchandra scored in the 40th minute for Football Lovers Manipur to salvage the 1-1 draw.

The 9-A-Side State Level Men's Open Tournament organised by Mangal Foundation and Maipakpi Organising Committee in association with City Club is featuring 32 teams clubbed into 8 groups.

The opening match of the tournament staged yesterday witnessed John FC and Bolero FC playing out a goalless draw.
