Imphal, May 21 2026:
PCC, Mayaikoibi opened their Group A campaign in the 5th MNCA Senior Women's One Day Trophy with a convincing 130 run victory over ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound.
Opting to bat first at THAU ground, PCC raised a commendable total of 223 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 35 overs and bundled out ESU for 93 runs in 21 overs to kick off their league stage on a winning note.
PCC did not have the best of the start and were reduced to 30/3 in 6.3 overs before Nongthombam Langelnthoibi Chanu 30 off 29 balls and Kebisana 17 off 35 balls gave some respite by gathering 66 runs for the fourth wicket.
From 120/5 in 16.2 overs, Hijam Lingjen Devi led the batting charge and anchored with an unbeaten 81-ball 55 with Deeva Chiron 15 not out off 61 balls to stitch 103 runs and blast PCC to a respectable total of 223/5 by exploiting erratic ESU bowlers, who conceded 85 extras.
Sanathoi (2/53), Naoi (1/25) and Rebika Oinam (1/23) were among the wickets for ESU in their dismal outing today.
Chasing the challenging total, ESU slumped to 93 all out despite Naoi's 33-ball 29 as Hemam Lingjen (3/10 in 5 overs), Manithoi Salam (3/11 in 4 overs) and Elangbam Sophia (2/5 in 3 overs) ripping appart their line up.
Hemam Lingjen who shone with both the bat and the ball was deservedly declared player of the match.
Elsewhere at Kongba Dhobi Lampak, PTRC, Patsoi beat YPHUC, Lalambung Makhong by 71 runs for the first Group B win in two matches.
PTRC raised 163/9 in 35 overs thanks to 71 extras conceded by YPHUC bowlers and contributions from Laitonjam Purnima 18 off 55 balls, Laitonjam Tolika 14 off 20 balls and Laitonjam Silky 14 not out off 33 balls before Laitonjam Benita picked three wickets (3/11), Laitonjam Linthoi grabbed two (2/10) and four others chipped in with a wicket apiece to dismantle YPHUC for 92 runs in 19.5 overs.
For YPHUC, Tongbram Nilky (3/31), Suchitra Devi Waikhom (2/26), and Usham Saliza (2/15) led the blunt bowling attack before Wangthoibi Nongthombam 29 off 34 balls emerged the only double digit run getter in the chase.
Laitonjam Benita who added 12 runs and picked three wickets to set up the PTRC win, was named player of the match.
