CWC lead the way with 10 medals on opening day, LSA follow with 6 medals
CWC, Nungoi athletes dominated opening day events in the 44th State Age Group Athletics Championship 2025 at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium to gather a remarkable haul of 10 medals including 5 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
LSA in the meantime fetched 6 medals - 3 gold and 3 bronze followed CWC in second place in the medal tally.
Day 1 events
5000 m race
Th Maria of HYC sealed the women's 5000 m race with a time of 19:52.37 (19 minutes and 52.37 seconds) as T Russia of MMC finished second with a time of 21:22.47 and BYCL's T Sophiya finished third taking 21:46.27 .
MMC's Manaobi Singha meanwhile topped the men's open 5000 m title with a time of 15:58.92 while HYC's Y Nelson finished second with a time of 17:33.58 and Md Afsar Khan of LSA finished third with a time of 19:30.59 .
Men's U-18 5000 m race title in the meantime went to Kh Zaved Hussain of LSA who clocked 15:58.98 .
M Mukta of HYC finished second in the event taking 16:34.21 as Rengharsem Muinao of PYNK finished third to settle for the bronze with a time of 16:50.38 .
100 m race
Th Suraj Singh of BYCL produced a noteworthy performance to top the men's open 100 m race with an impressive time of 10.62 seconds as Rahul Ghosh of IC took 11.09 seconds and Th Johnson of CWC took 11.48 seconds to finish second and third.
CWC's T Ravi and Th Resonat made top two podium finishes in the U-l8 men's 100 m race of the championship today as Md Abul Kalam of LSA finished third.
T Ravi took 11.44 seconds while Resonat was 0.22 seconds behind Ravi and Abul Kalam took 11.85 seconds.
Md Saruk Khan of LSA meanwhile recorded an 11.12 seconds finish to seal the U-20 men's title as M Bikash took 11.43 seconds and RAU's Rahul Kumar took 11.79 seconds to claim the second and third place titles.
Meanwhile in the senior women's 100 m race, L Yaisana of CWC sealed the top position with a time of 13.36 seconds as BYCL's Th Radhesana clocked 13.65 seconds to finish second.
E Bidyaluxmi of CWC meanwhile won the U-20 girls title with a time of 15.30 seconds as AAS's Sehnash finished second with a time of 22.74 seconds.
60 m race for U-16 girls
H Nena Chanu of SAN sealed the U-16 girls' 60 m race title with a time of 9.58 seconds as Tojaly Ahmad of AAS took 10.71 seconds to finish second.
800 m race
S Mahen and Surjit Kumar of CWC also stretched the unit's medal haul making top two finishes in the men's open 800 m race taking 2:02.24 and 2:03.84 as MMC's Salam Dhanajit finished third with a time of 2:05.88 Md Kurbash of LSA, Lilong meanwhile topped the U-20 men's 800 m race taking 2:06.36 seconds as N Nandaraaj of KNSAA and Md Sarosh Aribam clocked 2:10.60 and 2:20.69 respectively to seal the second and third place titles.
Shot Put
M Chandramani of CWC sealed the women's open shot-put title with a 9.50 m throw as compatriot H Indubala managed 7.66 m and M Arundhati of MPSC recorded 7.50 m to finish second and third.
M Leishembi of CWC topped the U-20 women's shot-put event registering a 7.51 m throw as L Alina of KNSAA and Oinam Yaisna of CWC posted 5.91 m and 5.28 m to finish first and second.
H Nena of SAN sealed the U-16 women's shot-put title registering 6.49 m while H Angela of CWC and Matamnganbi of KNSAA posted 6.36 m and 6.26 m to finish second and third.
L Bindhya of YVA meanwhile registered a 7.11 m throw to win the U-14 girls title as TYC's O Linthoingambi and SAN's RK Chinglembi finished second and third with 6.92 m and 6.66 m finishes.
T Johnson of CWC clinched the men's open shot-put title today recording the best throw of 10.36 m as LSA, Thanga's S Kunjakeshwor and S Prasanta of CWC finished second and third with 10.06 m and 9 m throws.
Joyhenba of MMC meanwhile registered the best 13.17 m throw in the men's U-20 category competition as N Rohit of LSA, Thanga and Kh Momocha of IBA managed 10.48 m and 9.35 m throws to secure second and third positions.
K Tenison of KNSAA in the meantime topped the U-18 group recording 8.80 m throw as M Malemnganba of LSA, Thanga registered 8.71 m and Th Sweetam of HYC registered 8 m to finish second and third.
Ch Mangal of SAN meanwhile topped the U-16 men's event with a 9.97 m throw as compatriot Ksh Raj finished second with 9.50 m throw and Kh Pravakar of KNSAA sealed the third place title with 9.34 m .
High Jump
K Romeshchandra of CWC soared 1.45 m to clinch the men's open high jump title as BYCL's T Umesh and S Somananda cleared same 1.40 m to finish second and third.
BYCL's L Bembem and Th Ashalata meanwhile sealed the top two positions in the women's open high jump competition making 1.10 m and 1 m clearances.
MMC's H Shangkardayal emerged the lone entry in the U-l8 men's section and registered a 1.65 m jump as Zamei Kamei of MMC, who is also the lone entry in the women's U-l 8 section, managed a 1.25 m jump.
Long Jump
K Rameshchandra of MPSC notched up the men's open long jump title with the best leap of 6.24 m while S Somananda of BYCL followed in the second place with a 5.44 m finish.
Th Radhesana of BYCL meanwhile clinched the women's open long jump gold with a 4.47 m finish as A Surbala of MPSC finished second with a 3.94 m clearance.
M Bikash of MMC meanwhile took the U-20 men's long jump gold with a 6 m leap as N Boboy of IBA finished second with a 5.67 m jump.
Bidyalaxmi of CWC in the meantime clinched the U-20 girls title with a 4.14 m leap as H Shankardayal of MMC won the U-l 8 men's title with a 6.10 m jump followed by M Ribash of IBA with 5.08 m finish.
Jangmei Kamei in the meantime topped the U-18 women's long jump event with a 4.75 m leap as Ksh Darsana of CWC finished second with 3.19 m leap.
