5th MNCA Boys U14 One Day Trophy : Holders AKSDO thrash YUCC by 8 wickets to book quarterfinal ticket

Defending champions AKSDO, Khangabok cruised into the quarterfinals of the 5th MNCA Boys U14 One Day Trophy after trouncing YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai by 8 wickets in a pre-quarterfinal clash at the Lairenjam Public Ground.
Opting to bat first, YUCC were bundled out for 151 runs in 26.3 overs.
AKSDO comfortably chased down the target in 28 overs, riding on an unbeaten 127-run third-wicket partnership between Khundrakpam Boiton (36 off 62 balls) and Shailesh Khundrakpam (60 off 86 balls) .
YUCC endured a shaky start to their innings and were quickly reduced to 49/3 in 10.3 overs, with Khundrakpam Boiton and Khundrakpam Lamnganba inflicting early damage.
Potsangbam Narendra, who came in at number 4, provided some much-needed respite.
He combined with Rajbir Khumanthem (22 off 17 balls) to add 35 runs for the fourth wicket before Saikhom Chinglemba broke the partnership in the 16th over.
While Narendra anchored the innings with a resilient, unbeaten 55 off 71 balls, he ultimately ran out of partners.
Boiton, Shailesh Khundrakpam, and Chinglemba struck at regular intervals to wrap up the innings.
AKSDO's Khundrakpam Boiton, who swept through the tailenders, returned with the best bowling figures of 5/8 in 5.3 overs.
Shailesh (2/25), Saikhom Chinglemba (2/35), and Khundrakpam Lamnganba (1/19) shared the remaining five wickets.
Chasing 152 for the win, AKSDO suffered early jitters.
They lost their opening pair, Th Rajbir (2) and N Tomthin (5), to P Narendra (1/28) and Kh Rajbir (1/15) respectively.
However, Shailesh and Boiton took control, steering the team to a victorious 155/2 in 28 overs.
Shailesh's unbeaten half-century included 7 boundaries, while Boiton provided solid stability from the other end.
For his spectacular five-wicket haul and crucial role in bundling out YUCC for a modest total, Khundrakpam Boiton was named Player of the Match.
The day also saw AMCA, Thoubal; YAL, Thoubal Leishangthem; and PTRC, Patsoi securing wins in other pre-quarterfinal matches.
At Khudeiband Lampak, AMCA notched up a mammoth 146-run victory against SSC, Porompat riding on brilliant bowling performances from Md Wajid Khan (4/15 in 6 overs), Md Raja Khan (3/8), and Md Asil Khan (2/17 in 4 overs) .
Asked to bat first, AMCA raised 215 runs for 7 wickets thanks to an unbeaten half century knock from Sahid Khulakpam (50 off 58 balls) and noteworthy contributions from Md Raja Khan 31 and Sakir Maibam 36 .
Musha (2/42) was the pick of the SSC bowlers before they were dismissed for just 69 runs within 19.1 overs.
Raja Khan who shone with both the bat and ball was declared Player of the Match.
At Moijing Public Ground, YAL outlasted FORCE by 97 runs as Gokul Thokchom (5/7 in 5 overs) and Alvas Makakmayum (5/23 in 5.1 overs) ran riot.
YAL opted to bat first but succumbed for 129 runs in 26.2 overs as the FORCE bowling attack-Syed Ashif (2/19), M Syed Farish (2/14), and Md Adeep Shah (2/30)-put in a disciplined effort.
However, FORCE found the target too big and slumped to 32 all out within 10.1 overs, with Gokul and Alvas wreaking havoc across their lineup.
Bikash (32 off 69 balls), Th Nelson (18 off 22 balls), Kh Punsiba (17 off 11 balls), and Gokul (18 off 22 balls) made double-digit scores in the YAL innings.
On the other hand, Epham Arban (18 off 20 balls) emerged as the only double-digit scorer for FORCE in a reply that saw seven other batsmen dismissed for a duck.
Gokul was eventually adjudged Player of the Match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College Ground, PTRC thumped TRAU, Kwakeithel for 5 wickets.
TRAU elected to bat first after winning the toss but were bowled out for 56 runs within 19.1 overs by PTRC who then cruised to the target in just 11.3 overs with 5 wickets to spare.
Th Priyokumar (3/21 in 5.1 overs), Ghoutam Chingangbam (2/4 in 5 overs) and Thokchom Yaiphaba (2/8 in 4 overs) excelled with the ball for PTRC to give TRAU a torrid time today before Ghoutam (13 off 12 balls) and Irengbam Oshtin (12 off 11 balls) stitched together an unbeaten 28-run 6th wicket partnership to seal the victory.
K Yaikhomba and Y Langamba scored the highest 11 runs each for TRAU in the first innings before M Ringku (2/16 in 5 overs) returned with the best bowling figures for his side in a lost cause.
