Senapati, April 03 2025: The 1st edition of Poumai Veteran Football Tournament organized by Poumai Veteran Sports Association (PVSA) kicked off in the presence of Losii Dikho, MLA Mao AC as chief guest at astro turf ground in Senapati on Wednesday.

The chief guest in his address appreciated the organisers and said such tournaments encourage health consciousness among the veteran people while also encouraging youngsters to take up sports.

The MLA acknowledged the Poumai community's role in promoting indigenous wrestling that led to recognition by the Government of Manipur.

Joram Koveo, president Senapati district Olympic Association of Manipur (SDOAM) in his address as guest of honour said that the tournament will promote sports in the district and the State level.

H Luny Justin, president, PVSA in his presidential address said that the motive of the tournament was to keep oneself physically fit and healthy.

He informed that in the coming days PVSA is planning to organize Indigenous wrestling, badminton and other sports.

Altogether 12 teams are taking part in this tournament that will run till April 9 .
