Veteran T20 Tournament : LCCC ease to second win, CHAMP beat YUCC by 5 wickets

LCCC-Lilong Chajing thrash YPHU-Lalambung by 8 wickets for the second Group A victory in the 11th Manipur Veteran T20 Tournament as CHAMP opened their group campaign with a 5-wicket win over YUCC at Langthabal Public Ground.
LCCC, having beaten SNC by 7 wickets for the first Group A win, confirmed their place in the quarter finals with a tie left to play as they cruised to winning 159 for 2 wickets in 15.5 overs after restricting toss winners YPHU to 155/3 in 20 overs.
Boiton 51 and Hemanta 68 hit half centuries to take YPHU well past the 100-run mark before both of them retired hurt.
Jiten and Krishna were able to pick a wicket apiece for LCCC in this innings.
In reply, LCCC lost Pratap 13 and Gulshananda 14 on meagre scores before Prabin blazed an unbeaten 42-ball 84 to lead LCCC to the comfortable victory.
Boicha and Boiton claimed a wicket apiece for YPHU in a lost cause.
Prabin of LCCC was eventually adjudged man of the match.
Later in the day, CHAMP-Khagempalli handed YUCC-Kwakeithel Moirangpurel second Group D defeat as they chased down a target of 129 runs in 18.4 overs with five wickets left to spare.
YUCC, who lost to UCC-Blue in the group opener, elected to bat first and gathered 128 runs for 5 wickets courtesy Kh Raju 35 not out, Somorjit 19 not out, P Bidison 20 and Th Santosh.
The innings saw Bonny of CHAMP claiming two wickets (2/17 in 4 overs) while Ratan, Gopeshor and A Sanjoy shared three wickets among them.
In reply, CHAMP lost top four batters cheaply including three batters on ducks but Bablu 53 not out and A Sanjoy 42 revived the innings and set up the victory.
Ratan was also unbeaten on 13 as CHAMP posted 132 in 18.4 overs.
P Bidison (2/16 in 4 overs) and Tomba (2/17 in 4 overs) were able to claim two wickets apiece for YUCC in this innings as Manikumar grabbed one.
A Sanjoy who picked one wicket and added 42 runs in the chase was adjudged man of the match.
Model Club will play NAPSA in a Group B match tomorrow at the same venue.
