U-13 Khelo India Girls Football : YWC-Th crush ICSA 10-5 in Super League opener

Imphal, January 29 2024: Youth Welfare Club-Thambalkhong (YWC-Th) continued their fine form to remain title favourites in the U-13 Khelo India Girls Football as they overwhelmed ICSA-Irengbam 10-5 in the opening match of the Super League round (played among top four teams of the preliminary round held in round robin format) .

Yensembam Jandiya (3', 13', 15', 20') led the scoring for the preliminary round toppers YWC-Th adding four of the six goals in the first half here at CYLC ground, Singjamei Chingamathak.

Leikangbam Russia Chanu (14', 32', 46') and Laitonjam Linthoi (21, 29', 41') meanwhile netted trebles to complete the 10-5 thrashing of ICSA, who were placed fourth at the end of preliminary round.

Oinam Retika was able to score thrice (20', 25', 40') for ICSA as Oinam Bisheshwori (19') and Irengbam Daina (37') found a goal apiece.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the Super League stage, preliminary round runners up Young Welfare Club-Langthabal (YWC-L) held third placed Wangoi Football Association (WAFA) to a 6-6 draw.

WAFA dominated the earlier proceedings and entered into the break with a 3-1 lead but YWC-L girls put in a diligent effort in the second half to pump in five goals and salvaged a point at the end.

Laisom Lamjinglembi (4',10'), Sarangthem Rina (17', 36') and Ningthoujam Nishita (30', 46') found their names in the scoresheet for WAFA as L Bidyalaxmi (7'), Julan Nongmaithem (26'), Konthoujam Rashesori (39'), Laishram Purnimaluxmi (40', 41) and T Ashalata (50') scored it .
