5th Thongju Kendra Games : SYUC to meet UYAC in hockey final, BPYC-NYTHC in football final

Imphal, June 08 2018: SYUC will meet UYAC in the final of the hockey competition being held at Akampat as a part of the 5th Thongju Kendra Games organised by Thongju Kendra United Clubs' Association.

A total of 6 teams clubbed into two pools are participating in this hockey competition.

The first semi-final match of the tournament witnessed SYUC get better of SEYO by 6-4 goals in a evenly contested fight for a place in the final.

N Amarjit opened the account for SEYO through a field goal in the 4th minute before A Sanjoy doubled the lead the very next minute.

The 10th minute saw SYUC pulled back one goal through S Suresh via a penalty corner but SEYO's Ksh Sumeshkanta extended the lead to 3-1 in the 12th minute.

L Mantosh of SYUC were able to reduce the margin to 2-3 when he chipped in a goal in the 19th minute before M Dhananjoy levelled the score to 3-3 in the 25th minute and went into the break with the same scoreline.

SYUC's Dhananjoy then hit in three goals back to back in the 40th, 42nd and the 45th minute to hand his team a 6-3 lead while SEYO were able to register only one goal through Ksh Sumeshkanta in the 47th minute to go down by 4-6 goals handing SYUC the final berth.

The second semi final match saw UYAC rode on Rabikanta and L Depu's braces to see off BPYC by 6-3 goals.

UYAC took a 4-2 lead in the first half through goals scored by P Adeba (1'), Rabikanta (17'), L Depu (24') and P Priyokumar (29') while N Bhakar (19') and Th Tompok (24') scored for BPYC.

Rabikanta and Depu of UYAC then chipped in one goal each in the 31st and the 45th minute to wrap up the game 6-3 while the single goal of BPYC in the last half was scored by N Santa in the 38th minute.

Cross Country: In the cross country event held as a part of the ongoing Thongju Kendra Games, Kh Ningthouremba of BLMEC took 1:13:08 seconds to finish first while Th Loyamngamba of WYLCO (1:16:24 seconds) and YWC's N Sandrajit (1:16:57 seconds) finished second and third respectively.

6th Thongju Cup (Football): BPYC to meet NYTHC in the final BPYC sailed through the final as they won the first semi final outclassing WYLCO, Kongba Bazar 3-1 today in the 6th Thongju Cup 2018 being organised by Thongju Kendra United Clubs' Association at SWC Ground while the second semi-final match of the tournament saw NYTHC thump SWC by 2-0 goals to set up final clash with BPYC.

BPYC scored through T Bablu (28th minute), L Denish (30th) and Ushabanta (60th) while M Jimbango fought hard to score a goal in the dying minute for WYLCO at the SWC ground.

In the second semi-final match, NYTHC rode on Ajay and OK Tomba to notch up a 2-0 win over SWC.

Ajay scored the opener in the 36th minute while the finisher came from the feet of OK Tomba in the 42nd minute of the match.
