State Subroto Mukerjee Football : St Peter School romp past Kamjong High School in U-14 Boys competition

Imphal, July 07 2019: St Peter which are representing Chandel District made a stellar start to their Group C campaign with a stunning 7-0 thrashing of Kamjong High School in the U-14 Boys competition of the State Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament at Practise Field today.

Earlier, Christian Grammar School, Tamenglong got a walk over as Tengkonjang Hr Secondary School, Noney district did not turn up for a Group B fixture.

Retuwn Welldam shone in the Group C opener as he struck twice including the finisher (45', 49') after Singgoulen Haokip of the Kamjong side conceded an own goal in the 42nd minute.

Bungwardon Sungnem (14') gave the Chandel Side the opener while BD Changdon Anal (19'), Kopeingam Tonsin and W Dimber carried forward the onslaught and set up the huge win.

Meanwhile, Imphal East came from behind to edge past Kangpokpi by 3-2 goals in a keenly contested Group D opener.

Kangpokpi made a good start as Lungouthang and Thangkhanlen scored a goal apiece in the 14th and the 16th respectively for a 2-0 lead but Y Indranath of Imphal East cut the gap in the 27th minute before Sh Malemnganba drew level in the 47th minute.

The game almost ended in a 2-2 draw but Nelson Sapam under fortuitous circumstance netted the winner during stoppage time and earned the Imphal East outfit full points.

In the matches played in the evening schedule, New Model English School, Thoubal played out a goalless draw with Heinoukhong R School (Group A), Tengnoupal and Themzan Academy, Ukhrul downed Parbung Govt Higher Secondary School, Pherzawl by 3-1 goals in a Group B league encounter.

Yumi Kamkara (18'), Leiyapam Tallando (35') and Samsuri scored for the Ukhrul side while Hosia scored the consolation goal for the Pherzawl team.

U-17 Boys
The U-17 Boys' matches staged in the morning at Main Stadium saw landslide wins for Mt Zion Sr Secondary School, Senapati; HM English School, Churachandpur while Bishnupur (Thinungei Phubala HS) and Imphal West (Little Master English Hr Secondary School) draw blank to share the spoils (Group D).

JRD Pathseeker Academy, Kakching and Ukhrul Public School, Ukhrul also earned full points against their respective rivals in the evening matches.

In the Group B opener for the U-17 Boys competition, Mt Zion Sr Secondary School notched up a huge 11-0 win against Pretty Lamb Institute, Tamenglong as Thangkhanglen scored four goals alone (4', 28', 29', 34') and Putoukhu Samuel (3', 18') and Veisalou (10', 42') netted two goals each.

N Soudou (15'), Shayam (23') and Daili (27') also added a goal each to enable the Senapati side earn the huge win.

Meanwhile in the first Group C league match, HM English School, Churachandpur rode on goals by John Kamsuammang (11', 18', 28', 34'), Kamsanglen (15') and Lalsiem (36', 39') to thrash Kamjong High School 7-0 .

In the second Group A league match of the tournament, JRD Pathseeker of Kakching district edged out Jiribam Hr Secondary School, Jiribam by 2-1 goals.

M Menaketan (13') and M Borish (25') scored for the Kakching side while Johnson scored the lone goal for the Jiribam side.

Meanwhile in the second Group B fixture, Ukhrul Public School, Ukhrul sealed a slender 1-0 win against Reliance Academy, Imphal East thanks to 44th minute strike by Changwung.
