IGP inspects child friendly PS in Kakching and Hiyanglam

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Manipur Police Clay Khongsai has inspected Child Friendly Police Station in Kakching and Hiyanglam Police Stations yesterday who was accompanied by Chairperson, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), Sumatibala Ningthoujam and DIG Range II Kabib K.Speaking to the media persons, IGP Clay Khongsai said that a Child Friendly room is attached to every police station to help create child friendly spaces where children under 18 years of age will feel more at ease to express their problems openly to the concerned officers as often they have nobody else especially in cases of child sexual abuse by persons the child trust most.
Police personnel in plain clothes engaged with the children in a such a way they (children) openly shared their fear and anxiety, he added.

He continued that efforts is on to build Child Friendly Police Station/Child Friendly Room in every police station adding that stern instructions were issued by Supreme Court, MCPCR and other agency for a child friendly room in every police station.
The visiting team comprising IGP, DIG and Chairperson MCPCR in Child Friendly PS in Kakching district were accorded warm welcome by SP Kakching, Victoria Yengkhom; Additional SP Kakching, Lunkhomang Khongsai; SDPO Kakching, P Sankar; SDPO Sugnu, A Devananda; DSP (Ops), H Rameshwar Sharma, OC Kakching Police Station (Probation), Lt Khongsai; OC in-charge, Hiyanglam PS, Md Arif; OC (Probation), Waikhong PS; Y Jivan and other police personnel.
As part of their inspection tour, the visitors interacted with the students who have come to experience the ambient of the set up.
Later, IGP Clay Khongsai also inaugurated Child Friendly Park inside Hiyanglam PS campus.
