VSAI beat EMVFC to enter Sangai Trophy final

Imphal, April 30 2024: VSAI overcame EMVFC in a penalty shootout to reach the final of the 5th Sangai Trophy Veterans' Football Championship 2024 on Tuesday.

VSAI fought back from a goal down to salvage a 1-1 draw in the regulation time, leading to the spot kicks where they triumphed 4-3 against their opponents.

In the penalty shootout, Sanjoy, Romesh, Rajen and Lokesh all converted from the spot to steer VSAI to the final.

EMVFC made three successful attempts in the shootout through Shyambabu, Suresh and Ramananda.

Earlier, VSAI trailed after W Shyambabu Meitei scored for EMVFC in the 33rd minute, but the former rallied with a 51st-minute equaliser by W Khogen.
