THAU off to rousing start in MNCA Women's U-23 Trophy

THAU made a flying start to their champaign with 244-run hammering of AL-AMEEN in the opening match of the 1st MNCA Women s U-23 One Day Trophy at SEDOC Ground, Kongba Dhobi Lampak, on Friday.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, THAU posted an imposing total of 283/9 in their allotted 35 overs.
Captain Niruta Thoudam led from the front with a blistering 60 off just 47 balls, including five boundaries, setting the tone for her team.
Robeni Usham (29) and Moirangthem Yaiphabi Devi (23) provided valuable contributions, while extras (73 wides and 10 no-balls) further inflated the score.
AL-AMEEN's bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Laishram Langlentholbi Devi (2/43) and Najiya Begum (2/14) being the pick of their attack.
Farhana conceded 84 runs in her 7 overs, reflecting THAU's aggressive intent.
In reply, AL-AMEEN's innings never gained momentum as they were skittled out for a meagre 39 in 21.4 overs.
Niruta Thoudam starred again, this time with the ball, claiming a remarkable 6 wickets for just 8 runs in 3.4 overs.
Her spell included three consecutive wickets, decimating AL-AMEEN's middle order.
Pungyambam Milky (1/5) and Sophiya Chanu Naoroibam (1/7) also chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
For AL-AMEEN, only captain Najiya Begum (17) reached double figures, while the rest of the batting lineup faltered against THAU's disciplined bowling.
