Imphal, March 22 2025:
FC Lamjao and United Brothers FC secured contrasting victories in the 17th Manipur State League clashes at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, on Saturday.
Elangbam Joykison Singh delivered a sensational performance, netting four goals to propel FC Lamjao to a dominant 7-2 victory over NEROCA FC.
The match began with Md Samir giving FC Lamjao an early lead in the 10th minute.
Joykison then took centre stage, scoring two quickfire goals in the 41st and 53rd minutes.
NEROCA briefly reduced the deficit through Ichulung in the 54th minute, but Haobijam Tombi swiftly restored FC Lamjao's three-goal advantage in the 59th minute.
Joykison was not done yet, adding two more goals in the 64th and 67th minutes to complete his remarkable four-goal haul.
Thokchom Yaiphaba then added a seventh for FC Lamjao in the 74th minute.
NEROCA managed a late consolation goal in stoppage time, courtesy of an own goal by FC Lamjao's Chongtham Rohit (90+3), but it was little more than a footnote in an otherwise one-sided affair.
In the day's other fixture, United Brothers FC edged out SAIRC with a 2-1 win.
Worchuipei Kashung broke the deadlock for United Brothers in the 37th minute, and Themchui RS doubled their lead in the 62nd minute.
SAIRC pulled one back in the 78th minute through a penalty converted by Kharibam Pravananda Meitei, but despite their efforts, they were unable to find an equaliser in the closing stages.
United Brothers held firm to claim all three points.
