Imphal, April 16 2025: Football Lovers (Nongpok Sekmai) and HAFC (Heirok) notched up wins in Wednesday's matches of the 3rd State Level Open Football Tournament Samaram Trophy 2025, held at Samaram playground.

In a Group A showdown, Football Lovers put on a clinical attacking display to overpower Khongjom FC in a 5-2 victory.

The Nongpok Sekmai-based side took an early lead when Thoiba slotted home in just the 3rd minute.

Khongjom briefly restored parity through Rohit's 24th-minute strike, but Football Lovers quickly reasserted control.

Roshan netted a brace (27', 50'), while Anaoba delivered two goals in three minutes (38', 41') to put the game beyond doubt.

A late consolation from Suraj (49') did little to dampen Football Lovers' dominance as they cemented their place as serious contenders in the tournament.

Meanwhile, HAFC (Heirok) overturned an early deficit and secure a hard-fought 2-1 win against Millan FA in Group D encounter.

The match began at a frenetic pace, with Millan FA's Yangba breaking the deadlock in just the 4th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse.

However, HAFC responded swiftly, as Singam restored equilibrium in the 7th minute.

The game remained finely balanced until Dinesh seized the moment in the 35th minute, firing home what proved to be the winner.

Despite Millan FA's desperate attempts to claw back an equaliser, HAFC's disciplined backline held firm, ensuring they took all three points.
