Imphal, April 02 2025:
Thangmeiband dominated PCC by 75 runs in Wednesday's clash of the MNCA Women's U-23 One Day Trophy at SEDOC Ground, Kongba Dhobi Lampak.
Electing to bat first, SHADOW posted a formidable total of 219/6 in their allotted 35 overs, a target that proved too steep for PCC to chase down.
The foundation of SHADOW'S victory was laid by a brilliant 71-run knock from Kebriya Devi Sapam, who dominated the PCC bowlers with a flurry of boundaries, striking 9 fours and a six in her 72-ball stay.
Her aggressive approach set the tone early, ensuring SHADOW maintained a healthy run rate despite losing opener Viviene Laishram (16 off 14) cheaply.
Captain Priyanshee Hanglem marshalled her side brilliantly, with Moirangthem Nirupama (37 off 67) providing crucial support in a steady middle-order partnership.
Late contributions from Smita Kangabam (22) and Wahengbam Priyabati Devi (2*) ensured SHADOW crossed the 200-mark, finishing at 219/6 .
For PCC, Nongthombam Langlentholbi Chanu was the standout bowler, claiming 3/30 in her 7 overs, including the key wickets of Laishram and Nirupama.
However, the rest of the attack struggled to contain the flow of runs, conceding 35 wides and 22 no-balls - a costly lapse in discipline.
In reply, PCC's innings never gained momentum.
Despite a gritty 43 from Okram Yashica Devi, the team lost wickets at regular intervals, crumbling to 144/7 in their 35 overs.
Langlentholbi Chanu (34 off 58) tried to anchor the innings, but once she fell to Wahengbam Priyabati Devi (2/31), the chase derailed.
SHADOW's bowlers maintained relentless pressure, with skipper Priyanshee Hanglem (2/22) and Victoria Thokchom (1/17) delivering tight spells.
Sagatpam Hentholbi (2/23) also chipped in with crucial breakthroughs, ensuring PCC never threatened the target.
