Imphal, April 24 2025:
The 5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy delivered high-octane action on Thursday as TRAU and WYC triumphed in their respective league matches held at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground and Luwangpokpa Cricket Ground.
In a tense affair that went down to the wire, TRAU narrowly defeated MODEL by 3 wickets with just one ball to spare.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, MODEL struggled to build momentum and posted 125 for 9 in their 20 overs.
Maisnam Tejkumar Singh (22 off 31) and skipper Langlonyamba Singh M (18 off 19) contributed modestly, while Suson Yanglem Singh provided late fireworks with a rapid 17 off 7 deliveries.
The standout performer with the ball was Sanjembam Somokanta Khuman, who claimed a match-defining 4 for 13 in his spell.
In reply, TRAU's innings saw several stutters, but a composed 33 off 28 balls by Huiningshumbam Luching and a steady 21 from captain Bishworjit Nongmaithem ensured their chase stayed on course.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, TRAU clinched victory at 126 for 7 in 19.5 overs, thanks to a nerveless finish by the lower order.
WYC, on the other hand, brushed aside ESU by 8 wickets, chasing down a modest target of 89 with ease in just 11.5 overs.
Batting first, ESU faltered to 88 for 9, with only Johnson Luwang (17 off 13) offering brief resistance.
WYC's bowlers, led by the clinical Jotin Meitei (4-0-15-3) and Bikash Rajkumar (2-0-5-2), dismantled the ESU lineup efficiently.
In response, WYC's top order made light work of the chase.
Rajkumar (38* off 25) and Karan Luwang (24 off 14) ensured the win was never in doubt, sealing it in under 12 overs.
