MNCA Women's U-23: AKSDO enjoy easy day, SHADOW win

AKSDO and SHADOW prevailed in contrasting styles in the 1st MNCA Womens U-23 One Day Trophy 2024-25 on Wednesday.
AKSDO inflicted a 195-run thrashing on TCMDC in their clash at SEDOC Ground, Kongba Dhobi Lampak.
AKSDO opted to bat after winning the toss and posted a formidable total of 254/8 in their allotted 35 overs.
Captain Taniya Ningthoujam led from the front with a blistering unbeaten century, scoring 124 runs off 100 halls, including 19 boundaries and a six.
Her innings was the backbone of AKSDO's innings, with contributions from Langlen Ningthoujam (14) and Alish Thokchom (14) adding valuable runs.
For TCMDC, Athokpam Tennish Devi and Yensembam Nikita Chanu claimed two wickets each, but the bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, conceding 67 wides and 9 no-balls in total.
In reply, TCMDC (W) faltered early and were bundled out for a mere 59 runs in 19.2 overs.
AKSDO's bowlers were relentless, with Bijiya Khundrakpam (3/11) and Alish Thokchom (3/14) wreaking havoc.
TCMDC's innings never gained momentum, as wickets fell at regular intervals, with only Ningthoisana Thoudam (13) reaching double figures.
SHADOW, on the other hand, defeated PTRC by 9 runs at THAU Ground.
SHADOW defended their total of 195/5 in 35 overs, bowling out PTRC Women for 186 in 29.2 overs.
Opting to bat, SHADOW Women posted a competitive total, anchored by stellar performances from their top order.
Kebriya Devi Sapam top-scored with a composed 90 off 112 balls (11 fours, 2 sixes), while Viviene Laishram contributed a fluent 66 off 72 deliveries.
Captain Priyanshee Hanglem remained unbeaten on 1, steering her side to a challenging score.
For PTRC Women, Laitonjam Silky was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 wickets for just 5 runs in her solitary over.
In reply, PTRC Women fought valiantly but fell short despite a blistering 80 off 57 balls (9 fours) from Linthoingambi Chanu Laishram.
Konsam Sayatombi Devi (39 off 44) provided nearly support, but the middle order crumbled under pressure from SHADOW'S bowling attack.
Captain Priyanshee Hanglem starred with the ball, taking 5 wickets for 29 runs, while Victoria Thokchom chipped in with 2 scalps.
